The title of this blog can be read several ways, historically I have seen it as a reference to a Dutch phrase meaning "first troop." Some have used it to convey a threat. But I use it in reference to an unlooked for hope, persistant even in sure defeat.

I'm still thinking the cartoons that have upset the Muslim communities could be linked to these fires. I've not seen a thing about that possibility in the mainstream. So, am I nuts or has someone else given this some thought?

No, David you are not going nuts but ,we (apparant racists) here (that everyone believes would burn a near equal number of white churches in order to cover our deep held desire to burn black churches) are largely holding off on making assumptions. The dates do coincide with the world wide islamic friday call to arms but also the death of Coretta Scott King. The black islamic communities of Lowndes County (which is central to the fires) could have related the two, but then two white males have been spotted in a dark suv (Nissan Pathfinder?). I see the distinct possibilty that the firebug may have a misguided aim to purify the churches by fire. The churches not being singularly targeted becuase the congregation is white or black but because it is not both.
