Obamaist, shows surprising reasonablness.

A day after tragic defeats of highest ideologies (or rather most soberly wrought compromises) it was very nice to meet one of the enemy so well mannered and more reasonable than his voting record might have suggested. The world can be as senseless, and therefore damned as it like, but so long as individuals can make sense of each other, hope isn't completely stolen by politicians in need of a cause. Upon the much maligned war we found ourselves in enough agreement, as to suggest that when the grand edifices of our own political inheritance are cast down by reckless populists, then we can, despite what polls may say that day, find still foundation to rebuild. Despite the causes that others might wish to pledge us, hope in each others honest disagreements still can lead to some solemn covenant.

Newk's , Thurs. 7 pm, I'm the redneck reading Bodansky, with a blue scarf and mohamhead comics cap.

I don't have that cap, but I DO have a Gigglin' Pig cap. Not as good, though.

In my view, the next President is going to have a very difficult term of office. I think of it as "Jimmy Carter Syndrome."

I have to wonder if McCain will try to persuade Mitt Romney to join him on the ticket.
